This 10 weeks project looked to David Hockney for inspiration to introduce 1st year students to the elements of colour, texture and pattern. We applied these elements to the typically grey medieval city of Kilkenny to create pop landscapes. I implemented to use of VR to engage students further with the elements, it also revealed to them the possibilities of art when linked with technologies. They created zines, collaborative abstract paintings, and VR landscapes. I think the main achievement with this project was getting students excited to makes and experimental and creatively playful with the tools and materials they used.
